School Talent Show

Spring performed last night in the school talent show.  She learned to play, "My Favorite Things" from "The Sound of Music" on Thomas' bell set.  She did awesome.

Terrible Bread

I keep forgetting to record this and finally thought about it.  One morning I was making bread, as I do a couple times a week.  It was set to come out of the oven just before I had to pick Mary up from Kindergarten.  We got home and she could smell the bread and that is all the kids wanted for lunch that day.  I sliced the bread and put butter on it for them.  Mary was sitting at the table eating her bread and she said very excitedly, "Mom, this bread is terrible!"  I thought I misheard her so I asked her to repeat what she had said.  I did not misunderstand.  She had told me the bread was terrible. I was trying to figure out how it could be terrible when she was eating it so quickly with the biggest smile on her face.  So, I asked her what made it so terrible to which she replied, "I love it when it is first out of the oven.  It is so warm and terrible."  Again I was confused until I realized she meant, "tear-able."  When the bread is warm it is soft and tears really easily.  So, now when bread comes out of the oven we ask, "Who wants some terrible bread?"

Sara's Latest News

For some reason Sara thinks she is old enough to roll over.  She rolled from her tummy to her back this morning.  I'm not so sure how I feel about this.  I should know by now I can't keep them small forever but I would like them to stay little longer than they ever do.  She has also discovered that her hands are wonderful toys and they keep her entertained for quite some time.

Dear Spring

Dear Spring,

You are amazing.  I watch in wonder sometimes as I see you growing before my very eyes, it seems.  I know you are trying so hard to accomplish goals you have set for yourself.  I know you are working so hard to get along better with Sammy and have patience and charity towards him.  I want you to know that I am seeing a change in you.  And, because of the change in you, there is a change in Sammy as well.  I hear you stop yourself when you are getting frustrated with him and start to respond negatively.  It warms my heart to see you noticing this on your own and making an effort to change.  I also notice you inviting him to do things with you and responding to him in kindness even when he is trying to tease you.  Thank you for your effort.  I want you to know I see it.

Thank you for all your help with Mary and Sammy's school projects this year.  You love doing crafty things so you are a lifesaver to this mom that is not too crafty.  Sammy and Mary have told me how much fun they have when you have helped them disguise their turkeys for Thanksgiving, make leprechaun traps, create valentine boxes, and lots of their other projects.  This is greatly appreciated by me as well!

I am in awe of your determination to read the Book of Mormon each night.  I am amazed at how quickly you are making it through the book.  Already in Alma!  Way to go.  When we read as a family I have noticed how great your understanding of this inspired book is.  I know if you continue this daily habit you will receive countless blessings in your life.

I love spending time with you.  I love watching you grow and learn new things.  I look forward to all the fun experiences we will have together as you continue growing and learning new things.  No need to hurry and rush there though!  I know the time will continue to go much more quickly than I ever want it to.

I love you, Spring. I'm grateful our Heavenly Father has blessed me to have you as my oldest daughter.

Love,
Mom

More Basketball Videos

I tried something different when I put some of the videos together and parts were cut off or I left some out.  I decided to upload some separately.

Sara's 3 Month Pictures

Here are Sara's 3 month pictures.  She was quite the stubborn stinker on picture day.  She did not want to smile at all.  I think she worked harder to not smile than to just smile. Whenever I picked her up to change positions she would smile and coo.  As soon as I put her back down her smile disappeared.  Oh well, she's still a cutie and we were able to capture her trademark pouty bottom lip.

What We've Been Up To

The last couple months have been busy for us.  Spring and Sammy are having fun playing Upward Basketball so our Saturdays find us watching games.  Thomas has been ice skating for a stake youth activity.  This was his first time and he caught on pretty quickly.  The little ones have been cheering at basketball games.  We have enjoyed the time to watch them play and try new things, and, at the same time, we are looking forward to things slowing down a little after next weekend when basketball season ends.
